Day 18

How much did you know last year,
when we saw you doing everything you could?
Ragging it, trying hard to be OK.

Now we wait to hear, drinking, remembering,
because that's how it is sometimes
and you're just out there.

When it's late and still not asleep,
what happens now? Soon maybe , then
we'll get the troop together to get on

with something to do, a place to go.
Not yet though, this is the pause
for breath before the final act,

when you get the guitar out,
half play some piece we all know.
And because we know the song

it makes sense that we'll get together
at your place, or at the Tea Room,
and dance like crazies in the moonlight.
