NaPoWriMo Day 10. Against Loss

Thanks to Jo Bell for the idea behind this poem, much appreciated. The weather has changed today, warmer but bringing the rain with it. And aching joints for those of us at the shoulder clinic this morning. Maybe some spring sunshine will bring a smile over the next few days, everyone seems winter weary at the moment.

Against loss.

I see you there
	behind the tree,
	in the street.

	when I close my eyes
	and go to sleep.

The stranger passing
	who has your eyes
	even when you left

before I knew who you'd be,
before I was who I became.

I see you here and there
	Turning away, but pausing,
	or walking past and looking

and if you turn back to say something,
	I see you sometimes, smiling.
