Preaching Man

On the High street each day,
rain or shine he’s there, the preaching man.
Claims he knows Jesus, personally.

A relationship that glosses his eyes,
makes something in him shine
when he speaks about it.

He tells everyone this good news,
most just walk by, but every once in a while
someone listens.

And then you might notice,
this is a man in the world,
who has found a friend.

People watching, one of my favourite pastimes. There is always someone or something to see in the world.

  1. Yes. People watching is one of my favorite hobbies, too. Airports are especially a good place to watch, as are restaurants. I hide behind a book to observe. I enjoyed your poem. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I enjoy this one because I’ve seen these people many times. I live in Louisiana and we’re part of the Bible belt. One day in Shreveport I saw a man holding a sign about Jesus coming and he was dancing. He looked like the happiest man in the world. Just dancing in the median sharing his good news.

Go on, tell me something, you know you want to.
